If actress Ellen Adarna's autograph signing for her January 2012 cover issue of FHM Philippines reportedly surpassed that of Sam Pinto's who was on the magazine’s cover girl last December 2011, should Sam be worried?
According to Sam, who was hailed by the same publication as the country’s sexiest, she has no reason to be insecure.
“Kami naman ni Ellen, we're really friends. I saw her FHM cover and I texted her na sobrang hot niya. She replied that she was just following my footsteps sa sexiness,” shared Sam, smiling.
She was unaware, she added, that she was being pitted against her fellow Kapuso actress. Neither was she concerned about the number of attendees during Ellen’s autograph signing because Sam believes they have a different fan base.
What she admitted to, however, was being trumped insofar as Ellen’s poses are concerned, which she said she couldn’t do and which she found “very daring!”
“Sabi ko sa kanya, ibang level ng sexiness niya. Hindi ko kaya yung ginawa niya,” she said.
‘Give chance to others’
So is Sam consciously working hard to retain her number one spot in FHM and status as sexiest woman by the said magazine?
“For me honestly, I don’t mind giving chance to others kasi masasabi ko na nag-number one na ako. Of course it would be better kung mag-number one ulit ako. If not, it’s okay,” she replied.
Sam, who's managed by GMA Artist Center, is also ahead of Ellen in terms of their respective acting careers. Sam is due to star opposite awarded actor and filmmaker Cesar Montano in the upcoming action flick, “Hitman.”
It will mark her first foray in the movies and already, Sam has earned praises for her acting from no less than Montano himself and another awarded and veteran actor, Phillip Salvador.
Sam works hard and listens
“I was excited and very blessed and grateful kasi napakasuwerte na pumayag si Sam Pinto who's number one FHM model, one of the sexiest stars. Napakatalino niya and I feel very lucky to have her. Napakagaling. Ibang Sam Pinto ang makikita rito. She will prove a lot of people wrong,” Cesar gushed.
Phillip Salvador agreed with his director and colleague.
“Sam is a hard worker and she listens. After a take, kapag hindi kuntento ang director namin, it's always okay for her if she does another take. Kami kapag hindi pa kuntento si Buboy, she asked for another take. Kapag ang isang artista ganun, sasabihin ko huhusay at gagaling siya,” commented Phillip.
‘I also have acting talent’
The accolades prove that Sam is determined to show the public a side of her that goes beyond being sexy.
“Parang na-stuck na kasi sa mga tao ang sexy image ko because of my San Mig Light commercials and FHM,” she explained. “I want to prove to people that I also have an acting talent.”
She added that artists like Cesar and Phillip inspire her to work harder in her chosen career. She particularly admires Cesar's dedication to “Hitman,” a film he produced, directed and acted in.
“Super hands-on siya sa movie na ito. Just talking about the movie from the beginning, makikita talaga na grabe ang passion niya sa paggawa ng movie,” she related.
Sam is also grateful to GMA Network for giving her a role in the primetime drama series, “Legacy,” even if she dreads her scenes with Lovi Poe because of the latter's acting prowess.
“I just hope that people will also appreciate me in my dramatic roles,” she quipped.
