Spotlight shines on Sam Pinto, Kylie Padilla

MANILA, Philippines – Young temptress Sam Pinto confirmed that she’s reprising the role of the one-liner ghetto girl Neneng B (Neneng Bakit) in the film featuring Boy Pick Up, the character made popular in the TV gag show “Bubble Gang.”
Early this year, news surfaced that Sam’s role was snagged by Solenn Heussaff. But by the time the cameras rolled, Solenn had gone on to play the role of a baker—as she had said all along; Sam’s place in the cast was never in question.
In a taped interview with “Unang Hirit” on Wednesday, Sam happily shared, “Ang gulo gulo ng set sobra. As in, parang totoong underworld na pick up na hiphop vibe and everything.”
According to her, the most recent sequence she shot for the film was the “main battle,” wherein Boy Pick Up, played by singer-composer Ogie Alcasid, was in the heat of a pickup face-off opposite actor Dennis Trillo.
“Kaming ’Bubble Gang’ cast, do’n lang kami sa mga battles lumalabas,” Sam noted.
Limited as their roles are, Sam is glad that she’s been given a bit of a special treatment in the film adaptation.
“Ang bago lang din kasi do’n is ‘yung I have my own spotlight na. Kasi ‘di ba usually sa show kapag iniintroduce ako, wala lang, papasok lang. Dito parang may photo shoot na nangyayari,” she related with a smile.
The cast went on their first shooting day recently at an old, abandoned gym in Antipolo, Rizal. Ogie also said they are hopeful that they could make a bigger, better splash via the film version.
Sam, for her part, is truly overwhelmed by the brimming anticipation the fans have shown ever since the project was announced last year.

“Whenever I tweet about the movie, everyone gets so excited and they say, ‘I’m gonna watch that.’ Nakaka-overwhelm na everyone loves Boy Pick Up,” said she.
Meanwhile, Robin Padilla’s daughter, Kapuso actress Kylie Padilla, has been earning nods lately from several quarters that have noticed a significant improvement in her acting.
Kylie revealed that she looks up to veteran actress Alma Moreno for inspiration in terms of perfecting her craft.
“Hindi kasi nagtanong ako nung naguumpisa palang ako kung sino ang dapat gayahin ko at kunan ng tips para umarte, so isa siya sa mga inaral ko. I watched her in her films,” said Kylie in a separate report also aired on “Unang Hirit” on May 2.
Asked if she intends to follow the footsteps of Alma, who reigned as the sultry performer even in her TV show “Loveliness” in the ‘80s, her quick reply was “Ay hindi. Hindi pwede.”
It was quite an understandable reply since Kylie is a practicing Muslim, just like her father.
Speaking of Robin, Kylie slammed rumors that her father has tightened the leash when it comes to her love life.
“Wala, alam naman ni Papa eh,” she said knowingly.
Kylie’s, of course, rumored to be dating hunk actor Aljur Abrenica. Both of them, however, have clarified that that they’re not dating and are in fact just “close friends" on separate occasions.
